‘The Poetics of Space’ – a selection of images from this series of works on paper, started 2007

These works on paper came as a surprise, like a gift so long awaited that it is no longer expected. Whilst the period of incubation was long, the working process is swift and sure. I draw spontaneously, using both hands, with a watchful eye receptive to the marks made at the moment they appear, and a sense of excitement and adventure fired by the newness of the emerging image. They seem to offer places to inhabit and explore, glimpses of the secret life of things evolving in a place we cannot see.
